The Legacy of Ras (A L'Haan Myth)
Scribe - Disruptor

A long time ago the Ice Giants and Ice Dragons were once creatures of flesh and blood. They lived in harmony with Mirin. It was a peaceful time. During this time a wizard, by the name of Ras, came up with a scheme to rule L'Haan. He went forth to the dragons and giants and promised them wealth and power. The two races agreed to work with him and set forth to lay siege to the city of Rhin. Certain groups of Mirin joined with Ras in a quest for power. The army was almost successful, until the priestesses of Borean summoned his aid. Borean told the Mirin his aid would come with a price. Fearing destruction, the Mirin agreed. Borean's breath covered the northern part of Talislanta, covering it with a layer of snow and ice. The change in climate broke the morale of the invading army. Rhin was saved, but the Mirin had to live within the frozen land as their payment for Borean's aid. As a mark of Borean's aid, all Mirin were given a blue skin. The surviving giants and dragons went to Ras and demanded their payment. Ras, angered at their failure, turned the giants and dragons to ice. To the dragons he gave them a heart of blue diamond that would grow as they grew. The giants were given clubs with blue diamond chips in them. In this way, Ras fulfilled his promise. He gave them power over ice and diamond imbedded in their bodies for treasure. His curse on them was that the dragons would look upon the giants as a preferred food. The Mirin that followed him were exiled and had Ras' name added to what they were called. They are now called the Rasmirin. Ras himself met his end when a descendant of fallen Xambria brought him down with a silver sword. The Rasmirin turned to the worship of death, for they felt betrayed by the sevants of Borean. Even to this day the legacy of Ras lives on. The Ice Giants and Ice Dragons still threaten the world and the Rasmirin still seek the destruction of Rhin.
